China supports the 71st session of the UNGA to prioritize the agenda, and hopes that under Peter Thomson’s leadership, this session will strengthen guidance and coordination on the implementation of the agenda, pay great attention to the needs of developing countries, and promote the UN and all stakeholders to jointly advance global development and cooperation by giving play to their advantages. The 71st session should mainly focus on encouraging all countries to comprehensively integrate the implementation of the agenda with domestic development strategies in accordance with their own national conditions so as to truly let the agenda take roots in all countries. Priorities should be given to poverty elimination, health, education and other livelihood issues and a balance should be struck among economy, society and environment. The 71st session should also embody win-win cooperation and continuously strengthen development partnerships.

Wang Yi noted that China has already launched the comprehensive implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and will publish a national plan for the implementation of the agenda. Moreover, China will call for the G20 to formulate action plans for implementing the agenda. This is also one of the major achievements and characteristics of the G20 Hangzhou Summit, which will play an important leading role in the global implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
